    The U3 Series duplicator offers the Systems and Files (Quick Copy Mode), which automatically copies only the data area, reducing the duration of the copy process. This mode supports various file formats, including Windows (FAT16/32/64/NTFS), Linux (ext2/ext3/ext4), and Mac (HFS/HFS+/HFSX). In case the file system format is not supported, the duplicator will automatically switch to the "whole media copy" mode.
  • Whole Media Copy Mode
    In the Whole Media Copy Mode, the U3 Series duplicator copies from the initial sector to the end, bit-by-bit. This mode does not impose any format limitations, ensuring that all data is duplicated accurately. It is suitable for scenarios where you need an exact replica of the original media.
  • Intelligent Copy Modes
    During the duplication process, the U3 Series duplicator intelligently marks the areas containing data in blue and the areas being copied in red. The actual copying time depends on the speed supported by the device, ensuring efficient and accurate duplication.

Q1. What are the differences between "Quick" and "Whole media" copy?

A1. Quick Copy: By selecting Function 7.2 Copy Area - System and Files, Quick Copy reduces duplication durations by copying only the areas that contain data in supported formats. It performs an analysis of data formats, capacities, and locations to determine the areas to be copied. However, if the source data exceeds the capacities of the target devices, the copy process will fail. Whole Media Copy: Function 7.2 Copy Area - Whole Media initiates a bit-by-bit duplication of the entire source device without performing data analysis. This method ensures the most accurate data replication but is relatively slower compared to Quick Copy.

Q2. Why is the duplication process slow?

A2. U-Reach flash duplicators support high copy speeds of up to 33MB/sec. If your flash device is copying slower than expected, please use "Function 6.2 Measure speed" to check the reading and writing speeds of your devices. For instance, if the measured writing speed is 10MB/sec, duplicating 1GB of data will take approximately 2 minutes.

Q3. What diagnostic tools are available for the flash duplicator?

A3. The flash duplicator offers three featured diagnostic tools:

  1. Function 4: Media Check: This tool performs a rigorous quality check on inserted flash devices by conducting a thorough bit-by-bit inspection. It identifies any bad sectors in the flash devices. 
  2. Function 6.2: Measure Speed: Within 10 seconds, this function measures the actual reading and writing speed of the flash devices. It aids in device quality control by estimating duplication durations.
  3. Function 6.3: Capacity Check: By using this function, you can determine the actual capacity of any inserted device. It proves to be an effective utility in detecting fake Flash devices.

Q4. How can I ensure data duplication accuracy?

A4. To ensure accurate data duplication, follow these steps:

  1. Select "Function 6.8 Calc. Checksum" to determine the consistencies of the data source and record the checksum value.
  2. Choose "Function 2 Compare" to verify the consistencies of the target data. This function employs hardware-enabled bit-by-bit comparison, ensuring that the source data perfectly matches the target data.

Q5. Why does the message "No Update File" appear during a BIOS update?

A5. If you encounter the "No Update File" message while performing a BIOS update, please consider the following:

  1. Verify that the BIOS file has been properly unzipped.
  2. Ensure that the BIOS file is stored in the root directory of the device without any additional folders.
  3. Save the BIOS file to another device and verify its quality.
  4. If necessary, redownload and save the BIOS file again, temporarily disabling any interfering software utilities during the download process. 5. Double-check that the BIOS file corresponds to the product model requiring the update.

A6. If duplication fails immediately after initiating the copy process, please consider the following factors:

  1. Ensure that the capacity of the source device is smaller and does not exceed the capacities of the target devices.
  2. When duplicating an NTFS formatted source device, the target device capacity must be at least 1MB greater than the source.
  3. Verify the source device using a PC to ensure error-free accessibility.
  4. For SD card devices, check if they are locked before attempting duplication.

Q7. Why do some ports display a red indicator light after the completion of the copy process?

A7. If certain ports display a red indicator light after completing the copy process, it may indicate the following situations:

  1. If the same socket repeatedly emits the red light, it might be severely worn out. In such cases, please contact your local vendor for a socket replacement.
  2. Are you using Flash adapters such as the MicroSD-to-SD adapter or the USB adapter to copy SD/MSD/CF, etc.? The instability and quality of the adapter could be the cause. Consider using another brand of adapters. For mass copy production, we recommend using our professional Flash duplicators.   1. Are you using Flash adapters such as the MicroSD-to-SD adapter or the USB adapter to copy SD/MSD/CF, etc.? The instability and quality of the adapter may cause issues. Q9. Can I copy a 2GB device to a 1GB device?

A9. Yes, you can copy a 2GB device to a 1GB device as long as the data and formatting on the source drive are within the capacity of the target drive(s).

Q10. Can I copy a 1GB device to a 2GB device?

A10. Yes, you can copy a 1GB device to a 2GB device. However, please note that the file allocation table (FAT) of the source will be cloned to the target device, causing your PC to recognize the 2GB device as a 1GB device. Therefore, it is strongly recommended to use devices with equal capacities for all duplication tasks.

Q11. Can I copy encrypted data?

A11. Copying encrypted data depends on the encryption methods used, such as software or hardware encryption. If you are unsure about the encryption type, it may require actual testing to determine compatibility. The recommended testing steps are as follows: Please ensure that the capacity of the target drive is equal to or greater than the capacity of the source drive before performing the test.

Step 1: Perform the Data Area Copy on the Duplicator

  • Situation 1: If a green light is shown and the copied device can be used normally, it indicates a successful copy (OK).
  • Situation 2: If a red light is shown at the beginning of replication, it means the machine cannot detect the device (FAIL).
  • Situation 3: If a green light is displayed, indicating the copy is finished, but the device cannot be used normally, proceed to Step 2.
  • Situation 4: If a red light is displayed during the copying process or near completion, proceed to Step 2.

Step 2: Perform the Whole Media Copy on the Duplicator

  • Situation 1: If a green light is shown and the copied device can be used normally, it indicates a successful copy (OK).
  • Situation 2: If a green light is shown but the copied device cannot be used normally, it indicates a failed copy (FAIL).

If the device cannot be used normally even after performing the Whole Media Copy, it suggests that the encryption method may restrict usage to specific device serial numbers or model information.
