Questions & Answers

Q1. What are the differences between "Quick" and "Whole media" copy?

A1. Quick Copy: By selecting Function 7.2 Copy Area - System and Files, Quick Copy reduces duplication durations by selectively copying only the areas that contain data in supported formats. It performs an analysis of data formats, capacities, and locations to determine the areas to be copied. However, if the source data exceeds the capacities of the target devices, the copy process will fail.

Whole Media Copy: By selecting Function 7.2 Copy Area - Whole Media, the duplicator skips data analysis and immediately performs a bit-by-bit duplication of the entire source device. This method ensures the most accurate data replication, but it is slower compared to Quick Copy.

Q2. Why is the duplication process slow?

A2. U-Reach flash duplicators support high copy speeds of up to 33MB/sec. If you are experiencing a slow duplication process, please use "Function 6.2 Measure speed" to check the reading and writing speeds of your flash devices. For example, if the measured writing speed is 10MB/sec, it would take approximately 2 minutes to duplicate 1GB of data.

Q3. What diagnostic tools are available for the flash duplicator?

A3. The flash duplicator provides three featured diagnostic tools:

  1. Function 4: Media Check - This tool performs rigorous quality checks on the inserted flash devices. It conducts a bit-by-bit inspection to identify any bad sectors in the flash devices, if present.
  2. Function 6.2: Measure Speed - This function measures the actual reading and writing speed of the flash devices within 10 seconds. It supports device quality control by estimating duplication durations.
  3. Function 6.3: Capacity Check - By using this function, you can determine the actual capacity of any inserted device. It is an effective utility to detect fake Flash devices that you may have purchased.

Q4. How can I ensure data duplication accuracy?

A4. To ensure data duplication accuracy, follow these steps:

  1. Select "Function 6.8 Calc. Checksum" to determine the consistencies of the data source and record the checksum value.
  2. Use "Function 2 Compare" to verify the consistencies of the target data. This function enables hardware-enabled bit-by-bit comparison, ensuring that the source data perfectly matches the target data.

Q5. Why do I see a "No Update File" message when performing a BIOS update?

A5. If you encounter a "No Update File" message during a BIOS update, please check the following:

  1. Verify that the BIOS file has been properly unzipped.
  2. Ensure that the BIOS file is stored in the root directory of the device without any additional folders.
  3. Save the BIOS file to another device and verify its quality.
  4. Redownload the BIOS file and save it again. Temporarily disable any software utilities that may interfere during the download process.
  5. Verify that the BIOS file corresponds to the product model that requires the update.

Q6. What causes immediate duplication failure after starting the copy process?

A6. If you experience immediate duplication failure after starting the copy process, consider the following possibilities:

  1. Ensure that the source capacity is smaller and does not exceed the capacities of the target devices.
  2. When duplicating an NTFS-formatted source device, ensure that the target device capacity is at least 1MB greater than the source.
  3. Verify the source device using a PC to ensure error-free accessibilities.
  4. If you are duplicating SD card devices, check if they are locked before initiating the copy process

Q7. Why do some ports display a red indicator light after the copy process is completed?

A7. If you notice certain ports displaying a red indicator light after the copy process is completed, it may indicate the following:

  1. If the same socket repeatedly emits the red light, it may be severely worn out. In such cases, please contact your local vendor for a socket replacement.
  2. Are you using Flash adapters such as the MicroSD-to-SD adapter or the USB adapter to copy SD/MSD/CF, etc.? The quality of the adapter may be subpar, causing instability. It is advisable to use another brand of adapters. For mass copy production, we recommend our professional Flash duplicators. For example, if you need to copy large quantities of MicroSD cards, our Combo SD/microSD Flash duplicators are most suitable for your needs. Our professional Flash duplicator significantly enhances performance and reduces the risk of errors during duplication.
  3. If you encounter the need to run the copy process more than once, it is possible that the quality of your flash is unstable, contributing to data loss
  4. If you encounter high failure rates, try reducing transmission speeds by selecting "Function 7.9 Working Mode." This increases the copy quality and improves the success rate of the copy process

Q8. After inserting the flash device, my flash device isn't recognized, and no indicators are displayed, making the functions inaccessible.

A8. Please check the following:

  1. Are you using Flash adapters such as the MicroSD-to-SD adapter or the USB adapter to copy SD/MSD/CF, etc.? The quality of the adapter may be subpar, causing instability. It is recommended to use another brand of adapters. If the issue persists, please contact us for further assistance.
  2. Are you using an ultra-slim or nonstandard USB? If you are using an ultra-slim USB, it is suggested to purchase a USB extension cable. The compact connections on the USB extension cable can resolve USB detection issues.
  3. Are you using a multiport adapter? Please note that our equipment does not support multiport adapters. An "all-in-one" card reader is considered a multiport adapter and may cause compatibility issues.

Q9. Can I copy a 2GB device to a 1GB device?

A9. Yes, you can copy a 2GB device to a 1GB device as long as the data and formatting on the source drive are within the capacity of the target drive(s).

Q10. Can I copy a 1GB device to a 2GB device?

A10. Yes, you can copy a 1GB device to a 2GB device. However, please note that the file allocation table (FAT) of the source will be cloned to the target device, causing your PC to recognize the 2GB device as a 1GB device. Therefore, it is strongly recommended to use devices with equal capacities for all duplication tasks.

Q11. Can I copy encrypted data?

A11. The ability to copy encrypted data depends on the encryption methods used, such as software or hardware encryption. If you are uncertain about the encryption type, it may require actual testing to determine compatibility. The recommended testing steps are as follows:

Please ensure that the capacity of the target drive is equal to or greater than the capacity of the source drive before performing the test.

Step 1: Perform the Data Area Copy on the Duplicator

  • Situation 1: If a green light is shown and the copied device can be used normally, it indicates a successful copy (OK).
  • Situation 2: If a red light is shown at the beginning of replication, it means the machine cannot detect the device (FAIL).
  • Situation 3: If a green light is displayed, indicating the copy is finished, but the device cannot be used normally, proceed to Step 2.
  • Situation 4: If a red light is displayed during the copying process or near completion, proceed to Step 2.

Step 2: Perform the Whole Media Copy on the Duplicator

  • Situation 1: If a green light is shown and the copied device can be used normally, it indicates a successful copy (OK).
  • Situation 2: If a green light is shown but the copied device cannot be used normally, it indicates a failed copy (FAIL).

If the device cannot be used normally even after performing the Whole Media Copy, it suggests that the encryption method may be set to be available only for a specific device serial number or device model information. In such cases, the device cannot be used even if it is copied.
