CFast 121 Portable Duplicator is an advanced and versatile device designed to meet the demands of professionals who require efficient data duplication and distribution via CFast cards. With its standalone design and impressive features, the CFast 121 duplicator offers convenience and high-speed performance without the need for a PC.
Key Features
-
- Standalone design, no PC required for operation: No PC, software, or drivers needed. Power on and start duplicating or erasing immediately with a simple 4-button interface and backlit LCD.
- Broad CompactFlash Compatibility: CF121: CF Type I/II — CF1.0 through CF6.0. CFast supported via optional adapter. CFast121: Native CFast card support.
- Built-In Verification: Bit-by-bit Compare function ensures the target is an exact match of the source. Use Copy + Compare mode to automate both operations in a single step.
- Real-Time Status Display:Backlit monochrome LCD shows progress percentage, elapsed time, data capacity, and copy mode. Three-color LEDs per port indicate Power (yellow), Pass (green), and Fail (red).
- Speeds Up to 3.9 GB/min High-speed FPGA engine with transfer rates up to 3.9 GB/min per port. Actual throughput depends on the CF/CFast media's native read/write speed.
-
Two Copy Modes:
- Quick Copy analyzes the source and copies only used data areas.
- Whole Media performs a full bit-by-bit clone regardless of format — ideal for proprietary or unknown file systems.
- NIST-Compliant Data Sanitization: Quick Erase, Full Erase, and DoD 5220 three-pass erase — compliant with NIST SP 800-88r1 clear standards for secure data destruction.
Duplication
Copy Modes & Verification
The CF121/CFast121 offers two duplication modes and a hardware-level verification function to guarantee data accuracy.
| Mode | How It Works | Best For |
|---|---|---|
| Quick Copy (System & Files) |
Analyzes the source format (FAT16/32/64, NTFS, Ext2/3/4, HFS/HFS+/HFSX) and copies only occupied data areas. Faster duplication times. | Standard duplication of cards with recognized file systems. Ideal when speed is a priority and the source format is known. |
| Whole Media | Performs a complete bit-by-bit clone of the entire source device — data, empty space, format tables, and all sectors. | Proprietary formats, unknown file systems, forensic cloning, or when an exact sector-level replica is required. |
| Compare | Runs a strict bit-by-bit comparison between source and target after duplication to verify data integrity. | Quality assurance and mission-critical duplication where verified accuracy is mandatory. |
| Copy + Compare | Automatically runs the Compare function immediately after duplication completes — one operation, fully verified. | Production environments and any workflow where hands-free, verified duplication is preferred. |
Note: If the source format is unrecognized during Quick Copy, the system automatically falls back to Whole Media mode and copies the entire device including empty space.
Data Sanitization
Secure Erase Functions
Three built-in sanitization modes ensure data is permanently and irreversibly destroyed from CF and CFast media.
Quick Erase
Erases data content while preserving the existing FAT16/32 format structure. Fastest erase option for routine reuse of media.
Full Erase
Overwrites the entire device bit-by-bit, destroying all data, format tables, and file system structures. NIST SP 800-88r1 Clear compliant.
DoD Erase
Three-pass overwrite (0x00, 0xFF, Random) compliant with U.S. Department of Defense 5220.22-M standards for complete data destruction.

Utilities
Built-In Diagnostic & Management Tools
The CF121/CFast121 includes onboard utilities for media management, quality control, and firmware maintenance.
| Function | Description |
|---|---|
| Format (Auto / FAT16 / FAT32) | Format target cards to FAT16 or FAT32 with configurable cluster sizes. Auto mode selects the appropriate format based on capacity (below 2 GB → FAT16, above 2 GB → FAT32). |
| Show CF/CFast Info | Displays card details including brand, part number, firmware version, serial number, capacity, file format, and content size. |
| Show Transfer Mode | Reports the maximum supported transfer mode of the inserted media (PIO, MDMA, UDMA). |
| Checksum Calculation | Generates a checksum value of the source data for verification and record-keeping purposes. |
| System Update | Field-upgradeable firmware via CF/CFast card loaded with the update file. |
| Transfer Speed & Mode Settings | Seven CF transfer mode options (PIO 4 through UDMA 4) and five speed presets (Slowest through Fastest) for fine-tuning performance with varying media quality. |
| Source Error Tolerance | Configure the number of allowable bad sectors on the source device during copy/compare/erase operations. Set to 0 for critical data requiring an exact full clone. |
